Hustle Highlight: Cash Quests
Controversy can be one of the best things for almost any venture — not because of the negative press it receives, but because of the press it receives! Our Hustle Highlight for this week spotlights a blog that is no stranger to causing a stir in the online community, and the owner doesn’t apologize for it one bit.
Cash Quests is a website that is dedicated to teaching its readers how to make money online. Because it is in the format of a blog, you would assume that it allows input from its readers, but this aspect of the site has been the source of a ruckus in the last couple of days because Kumiko — the site owner — has decided to remove the commenting option from the site completely. Why did she decide to do this? Here are Kumiko’s comments as seen on John Chow dot Com:
I weighed up the advantages (and disadvantages)of both [accepting e-mails and comments] and went for emails.
Receiving comments is quite rewarding and does provide instant feedback. I do miss it, but the emails that I’ve received from readers have provided much more valuable feedback than 90% of comments.
While I’m guilty of [link dropping] myself, I don’t want it on my own site.
…I’m attempting to move my site away from “blog” and more to “site”.
While I don’t fully agree with the decision, I do understand the reasoning behind it. Although this feature is sorely missed by readers, it does not detract from the overall feel from the site. In fact, I have personally found that the lack of comments puts more focus to the information contained on the site! So Kumiko may indeed have a good strategy for success there.
Cash Quests is very organized, very easy to read, and contains a TON of information to help anyone aspiring to make money in the online arena. The reviews that are done of other sites are detailed and thorough, and Kumiko makes you feel as though you have known her for a long time with her writing style. Because there are no visible advertisements on the site, it makes you feel as if Kumiko really cares about her readers, something that s hard to find in today’s money-hungry society. Most of the information found within Cash Quests can be implemented by anyone, although there are some tips that are for the more advanced web users out there. This helps to establish a diverse content site, and can help users no matter what level they feel they are at. Again, Kumiko has done her homework in this area to cause his readers to want to continually come back for more.
If you’re looking for a great resource to help build your online fortunes, be sure to stop by Cash Quests.

he is like the house md of blogging!
Go Kumiko! I love Cash Quests as well.
And Mahdi – is that even English?!?!
Thanks for bringing my attention to this site. It looks pretty good
Kumiko is a girl’s name, you know. Her site has changed dramatically lately. It used to be bright pink and had a photo of her on the front page. Now, it has lost all its personal touch. I don’t think she even mentions her name anymore.
She does her homework and writes very well, but I really miss the comments. I enjoyed reading them as much the posts.
Spud – thanks for the correction! Why do you think she removed her information? I wonder if she has gotten more or less traffic as a result?
Real Estate – No problem! That’s what the Hustle Highlight is all about!
Thanks for the great review! It’s definitely one of the most unbiased ones that I’ve received! Thanks!
I have looked at her site. She has some good information up there. Some of it is in the gray area but I think she know where line is and how far to push it.
Spud Oregon – I visited cashquest the other day and noticed how it’s changed quite a lot as well. The cynic in me wonders how much it has to do with the whole ‘identity saga’ thing?
Personally I wonder how long the whole “Make Money Online” thing can go on for before people just say, “blah”? And why are people so keen on using “Make Money Online” as anchor text these days? John Chow has a lot to answer for!!
I’m going after the Mony Online rather then the Monay Online is the much better strategy. Kumiko posting is just too “black” for me, I think that’s why she got ban from AdSense, i think she is a little evil when think of john as big evil:)
This site likes to create controversy so everyone will talk about it! Great marketing plan over there.
Thanks for the great article. Keep up the good work.
